Tishina / StandardEquipment

Tishina crew is issued or otherwise expected to own and maintain the following equipment. In most cases, similar personally owned equipment may be substituted for Tishina issued equipment so long as it is properly maintained and supplied by the owner. An allowance for non-standard ammunition and other equipment consumables for crew-owned equipment may be granted.

M4 Battle Rifle
Tishina's standard issue rifle is a custom M4 style rifle chambered in 300 Blackout. The selection of 300 Blackout allows Tishina crew to operate in a wide variety of situations from long range planetary engagements to close quarters combat on a ship in space. High velocity ammunition can be used on ground operations where hull penetration is not a concern, where low-velocity subsonic rounds and suppressors can be used on vessels, providing adequate lethality with less chance of hull penetration or damage to critical components of the spacecraft and to crew hearing. Barrel length options are 10.5 inches, 16 inches, and 20 inches. In any situation where crew is facing enemies with body armor, high-powered 300 Blackout rounds are the only viable option, regardless of whether or not the engagement is taking place on a spacecraft. Training for this rifle is standard.

9mm pistol
Tishina has a variety of 9mm pistols with suppressors to choose from as your standard issue pistol. Pistols are lower power than rifles, but more concealable, lighter weight, highly usable in close quarters, and easier to carry in lower-risk situations where confrontation is not expected. Your pistol is also your backup weapon. 9mm +P rounds are likely to penetrate the hull of a spacecraft, so these pistols are not to be utilized in spacecraft defense.

.22 pistol
Tishina's standard issue 22 pistol is a Walther P22 with suppressor. This pistol is recommended for use in spacecraft defense as the .22 ammunition has limited stopping power, but is not likely to penetrate hulls, and is less likely to do damage to critical spacecraft systems. In addition, the suppressed .22 round is significantly quieter than a 9mm, making it the choice for spacecraft defense.

Suppressors
Pros include increased projectile velocity, increased accuracy, and dampened report to more safe levels for hearing. Cons are additional weight at the end of your barrel, additional barrel length, additional maintenance of both the suppressor and the firearm, and danger of burns as suppressors can get very hot. Suppressors are general issue and should generally be attached to all firearms, and only removed when the situation warrants it.

Grenades
Frag- Standard explosive grenade which fragments upon explosion, sending shrapnel in all directions.
Stun- Grenade which explodes with minimal force, but delivers a very loud report causing temporary hearing loss as well as a blinding flash.
Smoke- A variety of colors which can be used to designate targets, friendlies, or offer cover.
CS Gas- A smoke-like grenade which deploys a gas irritant.

Drones
Tishina crew operates a number of different types of drones designed to operate within an atmosphere, as well as drones that are designed to operate in vacuum and microgravity. Micro drones are very small drones which serve as eyes and ears to oversee a situation, or serve as scouts. Large drones can perform the same function but with longer range cameras, and can potentially deliver small pieces of equipment or carry a weapon or explosive charge. Requires special training.

Body Armor
Soft body armor level IIIA is available for use when flexibility and weight is more important than protecting against rifles and armor-piercing ammunition. Hard level IV plates can be added to your armor to defend against rifle rounds and armor-piercing ammunition.

Night Vision (NV)
Helmet-mounted night vision goggles are provided as standard issue to each crew member.

Thermal Scopes
Hand-held thermal scopes are provided as standard issue to each crew member. Thermal scopes show heat, and work regardless of current light levels. Their function is limited in hot environments.

Rifle Optics
NV-compatible holographic sights are provided as standard issue to each crew member. Alternatively, or in addition, rifles may be outfitted with a scope of your choice for magnification. Iron sights should always remain attached to your rifle when all other sighting options require a power source. A green and IR laser sight is provided as standard issue to each crew member. Green lasers are clearly seen both night and day without the need for night vision. IR lasers can be used in conjunction with night vision to provide a laser which will not be seen by anyone not using night vision.

IR Beacons
An IR Beacon is a set of flashing IR LEDs worn on your uniform which cannot be seen except with night vision or a camera designed to see IR. This will allow Tishina members to ID themselves from a distance without giving themselves away to anyone who is not using NV. IR Beacons flash at a default "medium" speed but can be set to "fast" or "slow" as well. These speeds can be used for a variety of reasons, from differentiating beacons to silently communicating levels of distress. This is standard issue to each crew member.

Advanced pressure suit
Tishina's standard-issue custom designed advanced pressure suit is designed for mobility, even while operating at full atmospheric pressure, which means that a decompression is not required. O2 tanks are small and light, but last about 30 minutes. Tanks are dynamically replaceable, meaning they can be swapped out while in a vacuum without the need to remove the suit. The suit can accommodate two of these tanks at once. Tishina's pressure suits are designed to interface with a high-performance EMU (Extravehicular Mobility Unit) which requires training.

Subvocal
Encrypted radio transceivers are standard issue. Radios may be set to PTT (Push To Talk) or VOX (Voice Activated). The subvocal kit installs around the throat of the user allowing for very quiet speech to be picked up. Earpieces make sure that received transmissions do not give away a team member's position.
